Arthur Pink – Tent Evangelist

On Pink’s first night in the tent, a single Sunday night service in the fall of 1920, he found the place packed with over 1,200 people.  He was overwhelmed by the service.  Brother Thompson wanted Pink to stay and preach even the weeks to follow, but Pink had other commitments.  When Brother Thompson begged him to reconsider, Pink asked for twelve hours to pray about the matter.  In that time, he became convinced the tent in Oakland was God’s will for him, and he shifted his schedule for the next several weeks so he could minister in the tent for an extended period of time.  Pink spoke, later, of these weeks as the most wonderful opportunity he had ever had.  When the time arrived that Pink had to leave the tent and go on to other obligations, the people begged him to stay.
