“Time” is a word for creatures.  God is outside of time.  Recognition of that fact will be one of the great landmarks in your spiritual life.  You will take many rapid steps forward in Christian experience and in comprehension of spiritual things when you take God out of time and place Him in His true habitat – eternity.  For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways, declares the Lord.  For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts (Isaiah 55.8-9).  This is one of the great key passages of the Bible.  Understand it, and much else will be clear to you.  Reject it, and you condemn yourself to wander in a maze. – Donald Grey Barnhouse (1895-1960), from a meditation on Romans 5.6.

  1. I always thought about the illustration I read some time ago, where time was compared to a parade. God sits high above the parade, and can see both the beginning and end of it, and because He is almighty, can enter the parade any time He likes. So as far as we are concerned, His name is ‘I Am’, because ‘Now, faith is!’, so that whenever He shows up in our lives, it is NOW!
