The child of God is faithful when the grace of God is operating in his heart, when he confesses his sin, when he acknowledges his guilt, when he wets Jesus’ feet with his tears, when he wears the ropes of self-condemnation about his neck, when he flees to Christ with all his needs, when he seeks grace to live life to God’s glory, and when he loves the triune God above all and his neighbor as himself.  He is faithful when he renounces his own will, receives the grace to surrender to his Master, and no longer belongs to himself or lives to himself.
