To be united to God in Christ is to be where Christ is (in the everlasting Sabbath) and what Christ is (glorified, beyond the reach of sin and death).  As goes the King, so go the people; as goes the Head, so go the members.  This is what Reformed theology understands by glorification – and why it is so closely tied to justification in the past, sanctification in the present, and the resurrection in the future.
